Wholistic Care for Every Child

Rooted in James 1:27 — "to look after orphans and widows in their distress"

OUR MISSION (SCCK)

To be a preferred wholistic Care Centre for AIDS Orphans and vulnerable children in Kibra slums. Dedicated to formal basic education as per Kenyan statutory requirements.

When free education was introduced, orphans couldn't attend on empty stomachs. Thus in 1995, Spurgeons was born — expanding from education to food, clothing, nurturing, and medical care.

SCCK Classroom

From a Tiny Iron Sheet Room to a Beacon of Hope

Willchister Omondi, herself educated by World Vision, was moved by children scavenging waste in Katwikira. During her Master's thesis on environmental sustainability in Kibera, she encountered countless orphans who couldn't afford uniforms or food.

Spurgeon Childcare started with 5 children in a tiny iron sheet room in Kisumu Ndogo. The Kenya Government Railway line reserve became the new home. Today, we have produced professionals — including a lady Mechanical Engineer from University of Nairobi from the depths of Kibera.

"The organization sees the child as being at the center of her work, believing that children can live at their best when integrated into the community through their family units."
